College Football-SEC West Notes From Week 9
Posted by admin | Under NCAA Football Tuesday Nov 3, 2009Auburn—RB Ben Tate’s big day Saturday boosted him into some elite company. Tate reached 3,000 yards for his career, making him just the fifth player in Auburn history to do so. He finished with 144 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries Saturday, giving him six 100-yard games this season and 11 for his career.
LSU—The Tigers got their ground game going for 267 yards, with RB Charles Scott rushing for 112 yards and FB Steven Ridley going for 73 on just eight carries. Trindon Holliday had 105 yards on three punt returns, including a pair of 50-yard runbacks. The senior sprinter now has 475 punt return yards in his career, No. 10 on LSU’s all-time list.
Mississippi—They were just 3 of 15 on third down at Auburn and only got into the red zone once. Ole Miss lost despite holding the ball for 33 minutes and 16 seconds. Offensively, it wasn’t all a disaster for Ole Miss, save the 3-of-15 conversion rate on third down. Dexter McCluster’s 186-yard day was yet another welcome development.
Mississippi St.—-RB Anthony Dixon — The senior entered with 749 yards and left having surpassed the 1,000-yard mark. Dixon rushed for a school-record 252 yards, marking the first time he had ever passed the 200-yard barrier.
