College Football: SEC East Notes from Week 9
Posted by admin | Under NCAA Football Tuesday Nov 3, 2009Florida—Brandon Spikes tried to gouge a Georgia players eye out this past Saturday and will be suspended for the first half of this weeks game. Meyer defended his weak penalty saying that if he had stabbed him to death, he would be suspended for the whole game. SEC Commissioner, Slime bag Slive agrees with Meyers decision
Georgia—-CB Brandon Boykin set the school record for kickoff return yards in a season with 714 on 28 returns. Boykin had 114 kickoff return yards against the Gators on Saturday. Georgia dropped to minus-15 in turnover ratio (last in the SEC) after throwing four interceptions and forcing none against the Gators. The Bulldogs’ average of minus-1.88 turnovers per game rank second-to-last nationally.
South Carolina—-In acquiring a 6-2 record and No. 21 ranking, the Gamecocks had committed just nine turnovers in eight games. That all fell apart Saturday at Neyland Stadium as South Carolina gave up the ball four times, in effect giving up any realistic chance of victory.
Tennessee—-For the first time in 87 years, the Volunteers took the field in black jerseys. UT allowed just 65 yards on the ground and allowed South Carolina quarterback Stephen Garcia to complete only half of his 50 passes. Tennessee’s offensive line was excellent against South Carolina, creating enough holes to enable the running game to amass 199 yards on the ground.
Vanderbilt—-With the 56-31 loss to Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt gave up its most points in a game in eight years (a 56-30 loss to Kentucky on Oct. 10, 2001).
