SEC West Notes From Week 7
Posted by admin | Under NCAA Football Wednesday Oct 21, 2009Alabama—-TE Colin Peek has been added to the watch list for the John Mackey Award, which goes to the player voted college football’s best tight end. RB Mark Ingram was named SEC offensive player of the week for the second time this season. Ingram rushed for 246 yards Saturday against South Carolina and scored the teams’ only offensive touchdown on a 68-yard drive in which he carried the ball on all six plays.
Arkansas—–Arkansas is tied for first nationally in red zone defense with Oklahoma, Penn State and Northern Illinois. The Razorbacks have allowed opponents to score on just 13 of 21 trips inside the 20. The Razorbacks have 47 tackles for loss this season, which leads the SEC and ranks 13th nationally.
Auburn—–Chris Todd was 10-of-24 passing in a loss to Kentucky and had a big hand in the Tigers’ unexpected loss to the Wildcats, but it wasn’t all on the quarterback, coach Gene Chizik said. It definitely wasn’t enough to bump him from his starting position, either.
LSU—–TE Richard Dickson, holder of the LSU record for receiving yards by a tight end (898), is six catches short of Mitch Andrews’ school mark for receptions by a tight end. Dickson, who had only one catch against Florida, has 81 receptions.
