Kansas—-The 4-0 start is only the second for Kansas since the 1995 season, though the 2007 squad also accomplished the feat while starting 11-0 and climbing to No. 2 in the polls. The 4-0 start is the eighth in Kansas history. The Jayhawks have won six straight.
Missouri—Senior WR Danario Alexander became the first MU wide receiver to win Big 12 Conference player of the week honors after his seven-catch, 190-yard, two-touchdown game at Nevada. Alexander ranks second in the Big 12 in receptions (29) and receiving yards (404), trailing only Texas’ Jordan Shipley.
Nebraska—Nebraska’s defense is improved from last season, and dramatically improved since the scoreboard-lighting season of 2007. Through four games, the Huskers are ranked No. 3 nationally in scoring defense (7.0 points per game) and No. 23 in total defense (285 yards per game). It starts up front, with a defensive line led by All-America candidate Ndamukong Suh and redshirt sophomore Jared Crick. The secondary is deeper, and a young corps of linebackers is showing signs of progress.

Oklahoma—WR Ryan Broyles, the team’s best and most productive receiver, suffered a fractured shoulder blade against Miami that will put him out for 4 to 6 weeks. It’s a huge loss for OU. Despite playing less than a quarter against Miami, Broyles has still caught nine more passes (23 total) than any other Sooner and five more touchdowns (seven) than any other Sooner.
Texas A & M—-Although Texas A&M entered its 47-19 loss against Arkansas happy with the quarterback pressure it was generating, particularly from hybrid LB Von Miller, concerns over the Aggies’ protection surfaced. That was a steady problem last season when QB Jerrod Johnson was left running for his life. Those images reappeared as the Razorbacks, led by Jake Bequette, hurried Johnson roughly 20 times. Forced into passing situations, which prompted 58 attempts, was a contributing factor.
Texas Tech—-Texas Tech managed to snap a two-game losing streak with a 48-28 victory against New Mexico, but the Red Raiders also sustained some key injuries. Quarterback Taylor Potts was taken to a Lubbock hospital for observation after suffering a concussion. Reserve cornerback Nathan Stone also was hospitalized and examined for a possible spinal injury resulting from a third-quarter collision. Two additional starters, center Shawn Byrnes and free safety Cody Davis, were injured in the first half and did not return.
