  • On September 19, 2007, New York’s Andy Pettitte won his 200th game, defeating the Orioles, 2-1 at Yankee Stadium. Pettitte became the 27th left-hander to reach the 200-win plateau.
  • On September 19, 2002, Kansas City Royals coach Tom Gamboa  is attacked by two fans while he stands in the first base coaches box at Comiskey Park in Chicago. The drunken fans, a father-son duo, charged onto the field from the lower deck stands behind first base and tackled the unsuspecting Gamboa, who was knocked to the ground.
  • On September 19, 1983, Joe Morgan of the Philadelphia Phillies goes 4-for-5 with two home runs on his 40th birthday.
  • On September 19, 1973, Frank Robinson  of the California Angels becomes the first major leaguer to hit a home run in 32 different ballparks.

  • On September 19, 1931, Lefty Grove of the Philadelphia A’s wins his 30th game of the season. The future Hall of Famer shuts down the Chicago White Sox, 2-1. Grove will finish the season with a league-leading 31 victories
  • On September 19, 1926, future Hall of Famer Duke Snider was born in Los Angeles. Snider patrolled center field for the Dodgers from 1947-1962, and hit the last home run at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn
