Candace Parker Leads L.A. to a 81-78 win over Phoenix in Regular Season Finale
Posted by admin | Under WNBA Monday Sep 14, 2009Candace Parker scored 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the Sparks past the Phoenix Mercury 81-78 on Sunday in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Kerri Gardin had 23 points, eight rebounds and five assists to help the Connecticut Sun beat an injury-prone Indiana Fever team 95-85 Sunday. Indiana (22-12), the top seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, did not dress Katie Douglas or Tammy Sutton-Brown and rested most of its other starters for most of the second half.
Essence Carson scored 17 points, Tiffany Jackson added 12 and New York beat the playoff-bound Washington Mystics 86-65 on Sunday. Carson scored 14 points and Jackson had 10 in the third quarter as the Liberty built a 16-point lead, saw it cut to seven, then pulled away again.
Nicole Powell had 27 points as the Monarchs cruised to an 88-66 victory over the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday night in both teams season finale.
